The Big Bad Wax exhibit
As you may remember from my last event blog post, I was accepted into a nationally juried exhibit in Florida called the “Big Bad Wax” show. I was excited to share some press that the show has received and pictures of installation. The reception was on January 10th and although I couldn’t attend I’m sure it was fun. Judging from the pictures I’ve seen the gallery looks amazing! So much great encaustic work in one place. The Orlando Sentinel did a write up of the show, saying:
“This show brings in national artists to demonstrate what makes encaustic work unique,” board member Steve Bowersock said. “It gives the Mount Dora Center for the Arts a chance to be in the forefront with this re-emergent art technique. My piece is a little hard to see in the photo but it’s in the back to the left of the corner (the small blue and green one). It’s exciting to show outside of Oregon, and to be a part of a national show where only 36 artists were accepted. The show will be up until March 2nd, so if you or anyone you know are traveling to Florida in that time send them to the Mount Dora Center for the Arts!
